Jesus used the parable of the 10 virgins, with the 5 being foolish as they did not have enough oil. We know that oil is a representation of the Holy Spirit working within us and empowering us to be a witness unto Jesus, as in Act’s 1:8.
Today I had to remove the old oil sump and replace it with a new one, for the old had been damage resulting in a major oil leak. While removing all the nuts I realized the importance of the oil sump, it is the carrier of the oil that will keep the engine lubricated. Without it, the engine parts will overheat and seize.
It sounds like what Jesus said regarding the Holy Spirit, as the promised power from on high. The disciples where told to wait until they received the anointing from the Holy Spirt, for then they will have the power to go. We however need to focus on our relationship with God and walk in obedience to the guidance we receive from the Holy Spirit living within us, for Jesus said He will be with us through the Holy Spirit living within us. Without the Holy Spirit we will like the car engine that seized, as we will be stressed and overwhelmed. Some people would say we are burned out, and need to rest in order to be empowered from on High.
Then I realized that the teaching took a new turn, in that after I refitted the new oil sump, I started doubting if the gasket maker was be sufficient to stop a leak. Then the Lord reminded me that we do the same, we have been empowered from God to do the work He planned for us from before the foundation of the world, as in Ephesians 2:10. But we doubt if we have received the promise power and doubt the guidance we receive from God.
In Hebrew 4:2 “For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened.” The good news we received in Christ Jesus is that we have been reconciled to God and empowered to live a life in Christ, do we believe it?
