The bible say in accordance to Hebrew 11:1 “Faith assures us of things we expect and convinces us of the existence of things we cannot see.”(GW)
For me faith in a practical term is being demonstrated through the restoration of the Land Rover, we as children of God do need to take up our responsibility as we stand in faith, trusting in the Lord to do what only He can do.
Our responsibility is not based on our own strength, but is based on putting our faith in action as we place our trust in God and His ability to do everything He says He will do according to His perfect Word. Meaning, am I prepared to trust God to work through me, if so I need to come in agreement with God Word. For me in the restoration of the Land Rover to agree that God give me wisdom and through His Son Jesus Christ I can do all thing through Him that strengthens us.
The mentioned, agreement can be a passive agreement, if I do not commit though my action, as in James 2:22 (GW) “You see that Abraham’s faith and what he did worked together. His faith was shown to be genuine by what he did.”
If God Word and promises is not mix with committed action it is dead, for if I agree without committing my action to the mentioned, nothing will happen. Peter said to Jesus, if You call me I will come and walk on the water, he agreed with God’s ability, but then when Jesus said come, Peter put his faith in agreement with God’s Word through his committed action, by stepping out of the bout in order to walk to Jesus on the water.
We all know the story that Peter’s fear made him sink, so the one thing that is required of a walk in faith, is that after we make the commitment to act, we need to continue trusting that God is with us as we trust in Him. Jesus said in Luke 9:62 (GW) Jesus said to him, “Whoever starts to plow and looks back is not fit for God’s kingdom.”
Today I started to replace the coil spring and shocks for the Land Rover, a task that I have never done before and dreaded it, but as I committed myself I had to see it through, there was now only one way, trusting the Lord to help me in my own inability.
Praise God, it took me a whole day, but the front coils and shock for drivers side is done, now the next one I believe will be easier, since I have the experience. I we ACT Agree Commit and Trust in the Lord we build our faith as David who could face Goliath, based on his past experience as he trusted in God.
